Trip:       A TASTE OF FRASER

Fraser Island has always been a favorite with Australian and overseas visitors. It is the largest sand island in the world and is heritage listed.

The Mitsubishi 4WD Owners Club of Queensland has put together a special day long “tag along” trip to this unique island, for Australian 4 X 4 Gathering attendees. Learn the history and if you’re lucky, and most visitors are, see some of the purest strain of dingoes in Australia.  This trip is rated Easy (Blue) and suitable for all drivers.

The Club, in conjunction with Fraser Island Barges, has put together a special and much reduced cost for our guests to take the opportunity, whilst at the Gathering, to visit this unique place.

Book early as numbers are strictly limited for each daily trip. Details on how you can book are set out below……..

ITINERARY

Leaving Pomona around 7am we travel via local state forests to Rainbow Beach where we embark on the Fraser Explorer for our trip to Fraser Island. Once there we visit Central Station and amble along the board walk through the rain forest beside Wanggoolba Creek, home of the rare and ancient giant King Fern. We will also walk the white silica sands of Lake McKenzie where you will have time for a quick swim in the crystal clear waters of this perched lake. We also visit the Maheno ship wreck where you will hear about its fascinating history. We visit The Pinnacles where you will marvel at the beauty of nature. And we visit ever changing Eli Creek where you can walk the boardwalk and stroll back to the beach down the stream itself. During the day we will stop on the beach for lunch and morning/afternoon breaks. And for those that need to know, there are comfort facilities at Rainbow Beach, on the Fraser Explorer, at Central Station, Lake McKenzie, Eurong and Eli Creek.
